A couple months ago my 14 year old sister-in-law was on her way to Charlotte, running late due to US Airways issues and almost certain to miss her connection. Do to complications caused by the gate agent taking her carry-on bag with medication, probably missing her last-flight-of-the-day connection and needing to route her to Tampa instead of Ft. Meyers for pickup, I called the US Airways Club to see if anyone could help. Was transferred three times and ended up with "Premium Services" - or something to that effect. After agreeing to try and help they gave the the direct-dial number to her arrival gate so I could check on it myself.
I did call right before she arrived and of course the agents knew nothing about it. Ended up some 15 other people were going to Ft. Meyers so the other flight was being held for them and my sis-in-law made it and so did the gate checked carry-on.
And no, I won't give anyone the number.

Why could they not have simply called the gate and conferenced you in?
I still see no reason to give out the number.
