Again, only my personal opinion, never use the subway in China. Since 1994, I have only tried the subway once in China, and gave up after 2 stops, that was in 2003. I particularly don't like to have close touching with half million people.
I can't agree with that at all! I take the subway all the time in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and never had any problems. Sure, it get's crowded at times, but nothing compared to Tokyo or other Japanese cities. I did however have several taxi accidents over the years because there are too many whacko drivers on Chinese roads.

But for those that need it a bit fancier, most hotels have a Benz S500 or a Bentley these days and they are happy to rent it to you for a wad of cash.
