U need to check in only once in AMS, where your bags will be tagged BOS. After U clear US Customs in JFK, U will have to re-submit your bags & clear TSA Security. On the return, all U do in JFK is walk from gate (to restaurant or bar then) to gate! U will be credited for all flights as long as there are 4 flight #s as Icuhere has posted.
