OnCommand / Lodgenet is the problem

The obstacle all Marriotts are facing is OnCommand/ Lodgenet. In order to get HD content to the guestrooms, you have to go thru the Oncommand/ lodgenet systems. It's much easier and faster to install a new 32" LCD TV than it is to get them to upgrade their system. Barriers include the fact that there's an existing contract but it only applies to full service hotels- Marriott is working to negotiate a new one that includes all brands. Also a problem is that it requires a whole upgrade of the Lodgenet equipment and they are WAY behind the demand from all the hotels who want to upgrade. This should get fixed over time but in the meanwhile we have to live with it.

Personally, I think Marriott should get with the times and eliminate the whole PPV system requirement- the hotel doesn't make any money on it anyways and most people seem to bring their own content on their laptops or slingboxes these days.
