We recently established a Turkish Airlnes forum for much the same reason and it's the smallest of any of the current airline forums. Qatar and Virgin America forums were created at the same time and both have three times the threads of the Turkish Airlines forum.
Not sure if this is indicative as to how a stand-alone Turkey forum would fare but it's something to consider.
Cholula, to me size means very little. There are some important threads in the TK airline forum. Maybe not as MANY as other forums, but still VERY important to those who might end up on TK. Also, let's face it. This is a US-dominated website and much fewer Americans travel to Turkey when compared to Europeans. But Flyertalk still aims to serve Europeans. Europeans have been holidaying in Turkey for centuries. I'm in Turkey now and I even saw tourists in cars with Dutch license plates today!
Finally, ask yourself this question. If you had to go to Turkey on a business trip, and you weren't flying TK, where would you turn to for travel advice?
