Again, as on any flight, depends on the FA.
I had the same experience once on a flt from CLT to PHX. I think it is an old East practice, because I have never had a West crew do the same thing. It was a very nice touch but my understanding is that it is very much against policy and they could get in serious trouble if inflight found out about it, but then I might be wrong.
