Thanks for the clarification on LA actually being LAN. I have flown them often in Chile and found them to be excellent.

TAM on the other hand, gives me the jitters. This is the airline that just last year crashed at Sao Paulo's domestic airport (not GRU, can't remember the code), killing all aboard and a few on the ground, ironically in its TAM office . My own experiences on Varig in Brazil were much better, albeit a few years ago.

Just read the post on upgradeable fares flying to Asia. Has anyone looked into this flying to S. America? Going to HKG it was much cheaper to fly to BKK with a stopover in HKG, something like $1300 cheaper on a Latitude fare. If this is possible to S America I'd do it and actually find a use for all those useless SWUs.......How I miss the B and H fare days of last year...
