My wife and I are booked to go to Mauritius in September flying in First using our 2-4-1 Amex voucher.

However my elderly mother is in a care home and is failing after she broke her hip. So I thought I would seek the best insurance advice from this forum as I am sure some Fters have been in a similar position.

I have Amex Plat annual cover but this doesn't cover the miles and voucher.

However if the situation gets any worse I think I am correct in saying I have up to 24 hours before travel to cancel and get the miles and voucher returned.

But if we have already flown and her health demands us to return before the end of our trip, what would you suggest to best protect us?

Should I take out a BA policy as well?
