I would go for DFW. Less kids traveling, better immigration on the way back, usually boarding is right besides the AC, and Terminal D has plenty to do before the flight.
If you want to save $ on the cab ride, get the shuttle bus to CGH and then a cab to where you are going.
With the exchange rate at less then $1.6, Sao Paulo is a pretty expensive place right now.
