I no longer live in SoCal, but I really mourn the passing of this flight. I used to live within a 20 minute drive of ONT. When B6 could fly you on that route for $99 each way (those were the days!) I would go to NYC for one (very long) day for under $300 all expenses included -- leave ONT at 12.01am, return from JFK at 11.00pm the same day. Loads were always very good but of course as everyone has said loads are not dispositive when oil is $130/barrel.

The terminal at ONT most nights was deserted save for this flight (once or twice a week AeroMexico also had a gate). The concessions were even crappier than they usually are at ONT because they only kept one small food alcove open but you had the terminal to yourself. I would arrive early and get lots of work done, then sleep on the plane.

This was also the first flight I took post 9/11. I still remember the B6 gate agent checking through my carry-on with white gloves (remember the anthrax scare?) and realizing we were now in a new world. I so respected B6 in November of 2001 for not blocking access to the news channels on the in-seat TVs. Instead there was a little card asking you to be respectful of the people around you when choosing which programs to watch. I thought that was classy, and treated the pax like adults.

This is just my own little sentimental reminiscence. Thanks for indulging me.
