I could be wrong but I thought that taking any liquid through a second security zone was problematical. So buying at departure duty free or on a plane and leaving arrival airport on is OK. Where I believe you may have trouble is going through a second security where the message seems to be anything > 100ml is a no-no! So Flight Connections could be a confiscation job.

I thought the whole point of the tamper-free bags they seal your purchases in at duty free were to allow connections without having your purchase confiscated. And certainly every time I've bought something at LHR in the last year or so, they've asked me if I'm making a connecting flight after my current flight (before pulling out their tamper-free bag). Is this just curiosity on their part, or are they not going to sell it to me if I have a connecting flight??
