Flew the DCA-BOS shuttle for the first time ever. It's an interesting concept. However, I find it odd that they cater to business travellers, yet levy a fee of $50 to standby for an earlier flight. I normally fly UA and FL, neither of which charge to standby if space is available.
When did you buy your ticket? I had a ticket a few weeks ago bought online and used OLCI. I asked to get on the earlier shuttle at the gate and was told I would have to pay a fee, I think it was $25. The GA only looked at my OLCI print-out so only thing they knew was that I was not a "walk-up". If you are a "walk-up" I assume you get booked on whatever Shuttle is next to depart.

It does seem to defeat the purpose of the Shuttle to charge to get on an earlier one, EXCEPT as a revenue source. US seems to be real strict about charging to change for an earlier flight to same destination. I'm UA 1p, so *Gold and I know UA does it without a fee.
