It certainly will, because I never go to a check in desk, as I always PYOBP. I notice there is always a beep at the gate which I presume is to remind the staff to check my visa as no one will have seen it at that stage.

Every non-indian passport holder requires a visa so this makes boarding slightly longer on the india bound flights as the agent checks your bio page and visa page. Also with India, there is no such thing as dual citizenship so even the indian diaspora who have foreign passports need visas (unlike other countries where orignal nationality is kept) and this just adds to the time it takes to board.
