Might I be able to get away with it being in business, or should I try to figure out alternate arrangements (i.e. a different airline that might be a bit more lenient)?

Thanks :-:
I believe you should have no problems. When I was often travelling within Europe with LX and LH with my violine, I had always booked an extra seat for it; however, this was more for reasons of convenience and insurance.

Normally, you are always allowed to carry to items of handlagguage in Business Class with LH and LX afaik.

Hope this helps?
