I would suggest you take the miles unless you are chronically just over the threshold for your elite level and would rather have paid travel than reward travel.
Exactly my thought. You can use 25K miles to get from anywhere in the lower 48 to Alaska - a trip that would cost $500-$800 round trip. One of the best uses of miles besides international business class awards.
