Us Brits(and other countries) flying to America have to let the airlines know who we are and where we are from to pass on to the immigration authorities.. so we can be checked out before we arrive....though it still doesnt guarantee you will be let in at immigration... just gves the authorities the "advance information" when I travelled AA last time it could be done online... dont know where to start with this one.. gwen
