BA Miles or Money bookings make no difference .... right?

I trust I am right in saying that the fuel surchages and taxes on any ticket (eg. LAX-LHR-LAX) are always the same regardless of the form of payment used i.e. BA miles or money or combination ...

In other words, the value of redeeming BA miles must be considered in terms of 'base ticket price' saved and not 'total ticket price' (!)
