Courier Travel And Pax Paying to Upgrade

Does anyone have any recent experience flying as a courier ex-USA? I'm interested in doing this to visit my relatives in Asia, paying the difference between the courier fare and full-fare C to fly in C, and paying the excess baggage charges to bring my own checked baggage.

I figured this may be a good way to subsidize my C-class fare, esp. if the courier company may be paying full-fare Y.

If this is true, I'd buy full-fare C on my own dime. Then look for a courier service looking for someone to travel close to my planned travel dates, book with them, pay the difference to fly C, and then cancel my original full-fare C ticket.

(Perhaps that would be the only occasion where I'd be happy to pay excess baggage charges. )
