Back when I was a travel agent, JFK and LGA for ticketing purposes WERE indeed the same (they were "common rated"), and were interchangeable without reissue of a ticket (as are several other cities with multiple airports).

So you might be able to stand by - - but I wouldn't do it unless the plane was half empty.
