I did call the hotel and explained, they wanted $119 for one night room rate! Ouch. I have season pass for the Carowinds here in CLT but they don't have laptop power close to the pool area where I could work and keep an eye on my kid so that was out.
So no I wasn't planning to do anything to cheat but $119 was bit steep for kid to use pool while I was trying to do some work.
Certainly a more noble gesture than what others jumped in and assumed.
You could stay for lunch, perhaps even poolside room service, I would have no issue with that if I ran the place.
I guess you've done the pool / work / watch thing before? I can't image that you'd get 5 minutes peace unless she brought a friend or is at that age where she doesn't want to be seen with her daddy. Small kids love your attention at the pool. I'd add just turn off your laptop and enjoy the day but I'd be just as guilty myself.
