I am beginning to cringe traveling econ in domestic US (or even US transcon) just the product has gotten so crummy. But then again with 140 (or 200??) oil, airfares in econ needs to triple for the airlines to come out ahead. That's simple economics.
When one thinks traveling to resolve a problem (million dollar range), C products are worth it for those who travels constantly or short-burst stints on the road. I doubt business would allow screwups in the tens/hundreds of thousands if trips of 4-5 figures would help solve it.
I agree C and F subs the Ys. But I also think ppl traveling on Y got themselves a steal (ie 200 bucks for transcon Y)
If possible, I would go C (if C cost <3x of Y) because transocean trip in Y truly is crummy. Especially if one jetlags for the first several days while on the ground...
