This is really nice for people trying to get to parts of France OTHER than Paris because Lyon is a domestic hub of Air France. I just moved back to the US from Normandy (I lived about halfway between Caen and Rouen) which have flights to Lyon on Air France regional jets. Paris wasn't that much further from where I lived, but it would have been a nice change of pace from CDG for any intl flights.

For that matter, I think Lyon has a fair number of connections to other cities in Europe outside of France on Air France. Anyhow, its nice that with Air France now bookable online, a bunch of new destinations in France are now available online through the Lyon hub...as well as those farflung places that used to be French colonies (including the Air France codeshare on Air Mauritius to Mauritius) if you're fine with connecting in Paris.
