Not sure what the stance is on award tickets, since date changes are free anyway. Since the new free change rule only says you can change dates while being held to applicable fare rules - but not get a total refund, I'd expect that to get a "refund" of miles, that is to cancel the ticket completely, not just change dates, the $75 fee to redeposit miles still applies.
