Nothing to add except that I'm pro-carseat - up until about 3 yrs my child was much more likely to fall asleep and stay asleep if she was in the carseat. Two tips for getting the seat through the airport comfortably - either pull the harness straps as far out as possible so that you can loop them around your arms and carry it on your back, or buy a device called the "Pac Back" which you can purchase online through www.familyonboard.com for $39.99 - this thing has been an absolute lifesaver for me.
