I can't imagine having the nerve to do that. I would rat them out to the FA and maybe get them both tossed in back. (Actually, probably not but it's nice to think about.)

As to the OP's situation, I would...
1. Keep trying OLCI to get the SO a better seat in Y.
2. Ask the GA for a companion upgrade. A long shot, as it's technically not allowed, but I was successful once (back when I was a SE).
3. Let the SO sit in front. It's a short flight.

Believe it or not, you may very well make someone very uncomfortable asking them to move seats, especially up to F. They might not believe you can do it, even if you're holding what looks like a BP for 4A. Many travelers don't understand you can move around. If you want to do it, work out the swap with the GA or FA.
