I was recently notified that I received a complimentary upgrade to first class. Is it ok for me to ask whoever is sitting next to my S/O if they would like to trade seats with me? This would move the individual from a normal economy seat up to first class, and then I could sit back in row 13 with my S/O. I'd imagine most people would jump at the offer, but I'm just curious if it's ok for me to do this.

Thanks!
Yes, there should be no problem doing that. You can also try the time honored tradition of asking if your S/O might be moved upfront provided space available. I don't give this much or any chance of working, but ya' never know. Safe Travels.
