The only problem taking the bus is that you can get stuck in really sever traffic during rush hour. The interstates around NY and BOS become large parking lots around this time. If the bus takes the Mass Turnpike you also get stucked at the toll booths. So time your trip so that you don't leave or arrive during rush hour. If you can't you are better off with Amtrak.
