Companies change slogans as they deem necessary. The challenge in doing this is that the old ones live on.
Take McDonald's for example, in the early 2000s their slogan was "we love to see you smile." Now, it's "I'm lovin' it."
When marketers take the time to develop a new slogan (which typically positions the company in a slightly different way), using the old stuff is frowned upon.
