I guess my only alterntive is to unassemble and pack the desk fan in my carry-on and hope for the best. I would hate to have to leave my fan behind at the security check-point at the airport. I realize that it is impractical for TSA to provide definitive guidance to travellers regarding all possible items that would be regarded as prohibitive in carry-on and that descretion needs to be allowed to the screeners. On the other hand, some general guidance would be appreciated.
