As far as I know, OZ initially mulled over 25 B787s, and was very close to a deal with Boeing.
My guess is Airbus may have offered a very attractive price.
OZ and its parent company Kumho Asiana are not in a good financial shape at the moment, due to a takeover of a huge construction company, a former Daewoo co.
Asiana's share price is presently below it's face value.
Nonetheless, I think OZ made a right decision by choosing A350s.
