For me, the greatest benefit was the option of redeeming airmiles for WS travel to the continental US/Canada for a maximum of 1400/1600 miles, which I used several times to fly to Arizona in the winter for 1400. Since the regular airmiles requirement for that flight is 2850/3700 miles, the present offer of a20% reduction, which means 2280/22960 is hardly comparable so I cancelled my gold card.
