I think SEQ numbers are for the entire flight number, not just whatever segment you're on.

For example, I flew IAH-MSY on CO, and had sequence 298 or something on a 737. Then I noticed the flight (flight 5) was continuing on from LGW, which was a 777.

Since you say you were at the club, I assume you were in a hub. Could your flight have had multiple segments?
