LHR Transit Rules Question (transit On 2 Tickets)

I have a question on the application of the rule that transit passengers pay less taxes.

I have a RTW ticket that takes me to LHR quite often. On that ticket LHR is not a transit but a stopover. I however also hold tickets on the same airline (BA) for the leg LHR-AMS or AMS-LHR everytime within 24 hrs after (or before) arriving (or departing) from LHR, making it effectively a transit.

Is there any way BA could (or even should) reimburse the taxes or is the definition of transit very literal 'on one ticket' in stead of in the spirit?
