From the brochure:

If a Gold member meets the Diamond level qualification requirements under the new policy (40,000 on-board miles, or boarding Asiana Airlines 50 times), or meets Diamond qualification requirements under the old policy (100,000 on-board miles, or boarding Asiana Airlines 100 times) within 2 years from Oct. 1, 2008, the member will be promoted to a Diamond member.
The way I read this, your miles will be reset to 0 on 1st October and you need 40k after 1st October for Diamond. The only good thing is that those 55k miles will never expire like miles earned after 1st October.
