Jana -- Has this always been the case?

During SFH, a posted 3 hour delay (crew scheduling) would have resulted in a misconnect; I was rerouted on US. On another earlier trip, a mechanical cancellation at DEN resulted in me being rebooked on US. On another flight, I took a VDB and was rerouted on AA. And one other time, an ATC delay inbound O'Hare resulted in my arriving after the last UA ORD-LAS flight departed; I was rerouted on a later, same night AA flight. I remember this last one in particular, because the gate agent meeting the inbound flight paged us as we exited the plane and handed us already printed tickets on UA stock for the AA flight; the fare part of the ticket read "INVOL". It's the only time I've ever seen that; the other reroutes all involved FIMs.

All of the above reroutes were on MP Award tickets; all before 9-11.
