Thanks for the iPlayer link ^. Since I hardly ever watch television I didn't know about this programme but just watched it on my laptop.
I think Hammond was actually looking for a vending machine on the platform and got separated from May who was sitting in a carriage which split and went off leaving Hammond and other carriages behind.
And I've learnt about Nokogiri Yama thanks to Top Gear. Never thought I'd say something like this. It looks beautiful, should make a wonderful day trip from Tokyo
I used to go to a small seaside town not far from Nokogiri Yama for a summer holiday when I was at school. Of course there was no tunnel under Tokyo Bay in those days, getting there from the western suburbs of Tokyo where we lived took the best part of the day!
