I used my WP Visa e-cert to get 6,000 miless off each for myself and my s.o. on a PerkSaver in First. Unfortunately, there was no availability on the first outbound segment to MSP. So, I booked out of a nearby airport, though not as convenient. So I booked:
XXX-MSP-CUN and return CUN-MSP-YYY
I have been watching the first segment diligently and PerkSaver in First finally opened up for YYY-MSP. I called to make the change. Guess what I was told:
The 6,000 mile discount is deemed used one-time only and if I make
any change to my itin I owe them another 6,000 miles each. Now, my s.o. has a 6,000 mile e-cert from her WP Visa as well, but they refused to take that. They said I have to either pony up 12,000 miles and throw away the e-cert, or I can redeposit the miles for the entire trip and re-book from scratch the entire itin (and hope PerkSaver availability doesn't go away while waiting for the miles to redeposit).
The T&Cs are
here. The pertinent parts are:
Offer valid for one-time use only. Once the 6,000 mile award discount is redeemed, it is deemed used and cannot be applied to a new or changed itinerary.
and
Changes may be made for a $50 reissue fee. Once the 6,000 mile award discount is redeemed it cannot be applied to a new or changed itinerary.
Doesn't this all seem contradictory? I see where it supposedly says that it cannot by applied to a changed itinerary. But, why does it then say "Changes may be made for a $50 reissue fee." Those two phrases cannot coexist. It seems to me that I can ask for a change for the $50 reissue fee, but they point to the other provision. We're at loggerheads... who wins? Should I escalate this and demand that I make a change for the "$50 reissue fee"?
Doesn't this all just seem ridiculous that I cannot make one single minor change to my itin because I used this WP Visa e-cert?
I tried to make a change online and get an error message: we cannot process your request, please call...
