Yes, that's correct. The Star Alliance Award chart shows how many miles are needed. Stopovers in Europe are permitted, which, in my opinion, is the only reason to do this type of a routing.

kctigers, the Asia itinerary you propose has some zig-zags that cause you to backtrack to the east and west. These aren't permitted on award tickets. Also, your stopover city has to be considered a "logical routing" - meaning, the itinerary might plausibly stop there on its way to your real destination. For example, ORD-NRT (stopover)-SIN would be okay, but LAX-RAR-SIN wouldn't because Rarotonga (sp?) isn't a major airline hub, and it's not on a regular route to SIN.

Have you considered flying ORD-BKK (stopover)-SIN-ORD, then booking a separate award roundtrip ticket out of BKK or SIN to MNL? The stopover in Bangkok would work okay, and Singapore is your destination city, so you could spend however many days in each city. You could also do ORD-BKK (open jaw)-SIN-ORD, and book the second award ticket as an "open jaw" out of BKK and into SIN. That would prevent some time-consuming back-tracking while still providing you with some flexibility.

Good luck finding an itinerary that works for you! Please PM me if you want to share more ideas.
