ORD had a nationwide ground stop until a few minutes ago when the ground stop was cancelled. Reason given is weather/wind.
As for your LGA departure, we just got this:
THE LGA PORT AUTHORITY HAS ADVISED LGA AIRPORT WILL REMAIN OPEN
UNTIL AT LEAST 0500Z THIS EVENING TO ACCOMODATE LATE ARRIVALS AND
DEPARTURES. IF THERE ARE FLIGHTS EXPECTED TO ARRIVE/DEPART LGA
AFTER THIS TIME, PLEASE CONTACT THE PORT AUTHORITY DIRECTLY FOR
RESOLUTION.
Anyone usually traveling to LGA is painfully aware of the curfew. I was on a flight in 2002 that had inbound delayed equipment and when it pulled up they did a perfunctory cleaning job, had us RUN down the jetbridge, find ANY seat and buckle up so we could take off before the window closed. They said after we got up and the seatbelt sign was turned off they would sort out seating, but they wanted butts in the seats strapped in in under three minutes. They announced it as "if we don't get out of here in the next five minutes, this flight will be canceled fo the night due to the PANYNJ curfew. WE DID IT! Everyone took it as a challenge, you've never seen people jam crap in overheard and get their keisters in a set so fast!
EWR has a ground stop due to weather / thunderstorms right now, LGA and JFK recently cancelled ground delay (JFK) and ground stops (LGA) due to weather / thunderstorms within the last hour.
