Well it's not as though British Airways is difficult to spell or pronounce!

Perhaps the American trend for shortening everything? You often see with or without shortened to w/ and w/o on other fora on FT. And worst of all, business class referred to as "biz", which in spite of it being an absolutely horrid word, Open Skies used it as a brand name for its equivalent of Club World.
