My mom (Executive Assistant to the VP of International Operations for her company) said that her boss (the VP) has switched his travel to AA because of the change. He often flies WAS-NYC for meetings or within California, then would take *A carrier to Europe or Asia. He was a 1K with UA but because of the rule change he's now EXP with AA. ^
