I realize many folks here think that the 500 miles are nothing worth getting upset about. However, for some of us who fly these routes frequently, the losses add up. I'd earn 1000 each way OAK/SAN connecting in LA, for example.
What Besso said. I go to SAN 3 or 4 times a year. I used to be willing to schlepp to SFO and do SFO-LAX-SAN, and I enjoyed the tour of the Coast on the Brazzy as well as the 2000 EQM per round trip. With the outrageous UA fares on this route and the elimination of the 500 miles, I have already done one WN OAK-SAN round-trip this summer, and have another booked.
But hey, enough about me! Keep those brilliant decisions and wonderful customer benefits coming, United. I'm sure the airline can afford to lose business to competitors in the current environment.
