Someone can correct me if I'm wrong, but one of the admirable things about AA is that you can always count on the fact that if you have an AA flight number, it is treated as an AA flight for mileage, challenges, etc. I personally have never encountered an exception to this. I wish folks like UA were similarly principled on such matters.
But as to the OP, I am sorry they were so uninformed, but I don't read anything there that indicates you won't get what you were supposed to. As cxfan stated, you're not entitled to F checkin or lounges - they are not oneworld. Miles are all you should have received for this - keep checking your account. Keep your receipt showing it was sold as an AA flight number and your BP in the event you need to send it to AA for credit.
