actually just went through this afternoon and it looks like it is staying United. There was a crew installing new brackets into the walls, I am assuming they are for the new, sleeker look of the premium check-in stations seen in ORD/LHR/SFO etc.
as for the NRT flight, I too have heard similar remarks of its strong profitability. Apparently Boeing (according to my neighbor who works there, and flies the route three times a month) consistently pays for about 30+ business & first seats on every flight for its Asia reps and suppliers going back and forth.
United and Boeing have very strong ties out of Seattle. Not that that alone would make NRT stick around, but I would imagine that this is just one of many companies in the Seattle area that utilize this flight.
Also, wouldn't the SEA-NRT-SEA flights be more fuel efficient than SFO or LAX because they are closer (meaning less fuel to ferry).
