I'm with Analise on this one.
I haven't transferred at Broadway Junction in more than a decade. But if it were my sister traveling alone at night, and she were not willing to spring for a cab, I would take the A or the E to 14th Street in Manhattan and pick up the L there. Yes, it will add about half an hour to the trip, but I would avoid Broadway Junction late at night.
I am with this poster, have her take the L all the way to the end in Manhattan to 8th Ave/14th Street. Then she has two options, connect to the E train uptown/Queens all the way to JFK/Jamiaca/LIRR (E runs express once it hits Queens). From 14th Street to her stop in Queens should take 45-50 minutes. Or take an uptown E. C, or A train to Penn Station and take the LIRR to Jamaica/JFK Airtran.
