Well my memory is fading, but I do think they're Tarif Lama (as late as last month, anyway). I'll ask my friend to see how bad the "mad cow" is affecting me.

This is a very helpful thread. From the looks of things, it seems totally safe for Americans to travel to Jakarta these days. Can anyone confirm this and what the safety/comfort level is there? I just returned from Riyadh where I felt more than safe so Im used to somewhat untraditional destinations.
I never had any problems, and felt safe the entire time. I was a bit unsure on my first trip 4 years ago, but I've never had any safety related problems.
