1. This gets an instant NO from me (of course unless you have a better seat to offer)

3. I agree but I take this one step further. Not only do I discuss with the pax but also the FA b/c she is the one who ultimately will decide what choices I get

as for the OP

I have a 7 & 8 y.o. and we have flown a lot and have had similar or worse situations (middle seats) and have never been separated.

1. Agents usually find something.. bulkhead comes to mind
2. Most and I do mean most will switch.

I doubt you will have a problem with aisle seats, you may be able to set off an auction to get someone out of a middle seat LOL
