I'm thinking of getting an award flight from SFO->LIM in June. The flight goes SFO->LAX (United), LAX->GRU->LIM (Varig).

If United went under, but Varig decided to honor award tickets that were already booked, do you think if I got myself to LAX, I could continue the rest of the flight on Varig?

Also, how is economy vs. business class on Varig? These flights are on M11 & 767.
