Hi Folks:

I saw a pretty good looking offer on an Amex Hilton card here, applied and was accepted.

Looks like if I make it my primary charge-card, Hilton will upgrade me to ‘Gold’ status. I’m wondering whether its worth it. From my reading, the biggest benefit to ‘Gold’ seems to be the upgraded rooms in their Hilton brand hotels, but they say its up to every hotel to determine what you get and when.

I did a search, but didn’t see this in the FAQ’s or see any threads devoted to this topic-

Question for you folks who travel more than I do:

What is your experience with Hilton room upgrades? How often can one actually get upgraded? What kind of ‘upgraded’ rooms can one expect? (They won’t upgrade you too a suite, I see. What else is there above a normal room?).

What is this ‘executive lounge’ they talk about?
