I hope you dont mind me putting in my two pennorth, but jewellery is one of my favourite topics!!
On receipt of some inheritance money, I purchased a very nice solitaire emerald cut (simple oblong) diamond set in platinum. In the scheme of things it is small at 1/4 carat but it is a nice colour and vvs1 and I am very pleased with it. I subsequently purchased a nice baguette cut eternity ring to go with it
Being a regular in New York, I did peruse the ring selection in Tiffany and saw some very nice examples as they are famous for simple solitare styles, although as some have already posted the American taste can be a bit bling and settings generally a lot higher off the finger.The prices then and more so now were very good and Ihope I am correct in saying that a lot of ladies would be delighted to be presented a beautiful white beribboned teal box from Tiffany, I know I certainly would!!
Also their customer service is second to none in my experience as up to now I have made several purchases of sterling silver (diamonds are pending) and whichever branch I visit, the service has been personal and excellent
